Abstract

Waste management remains a significant environmental issue in residential areas, including Pematang Gubernur Subdistrict. The low level of public knowledge and awareness regarding proper waste management contributes to environmental pollution and a decline in public health quality. This activity aimed to improve community understanding and awareness of waste management through the use of informational boards. The methods employed included observation of environmental conditions, development of educational materials, installation of informational boards in strategic locations, and evaluation of community understanding after the activity was implemented. The informational boards contained educational messages regarding waste segregation, waste reduction, and the environmental impacts of improper waste management. The results indicated an increase in community knowledge and awareness in managing household waste, as evidenced by behavioral changes in waste segregation and disposal practices. Therefore, education through informational boards is considered an effective environmental communication medium that is simple and easily understood by the community. This activity is
